Is item placement beginner vs advanced defined? It might be marked that way if beginner because you don’t have hookshot

Advanced vs beginner is defined (you can switch using that gear in the items section header), but advanced is the default.

They’ve gotten enough bug reports from casual level players of “hey you can’t get across that without hookshot, this is a bug” that hook is required in basic. (As is book for ped)

I have noticed that resetting the tracker to the default state ALSO resets item placement mode to advanced, even if you have previously set it to basic.

There currently isn't support for persistent package configuration outside of making an override to change the default.

Saving the tracker state once correctly configured has been recommended in the past, but I would say this doesn't feel quite right.

Advanced vs Basic in my pack being reset when resetting the tracker is both expected and intended, for the same reasons I expect Regg based his response on.

Hello there! Is there a way to undo the removals of Map locations, if done by mistake? I tried leftclick, rightclick - nothing seems to work. I am uing EmoTracker 2.3.6.7 with the EmoTracker Official ALTTP Support Pack installed.

Hey there everyone. Hopefully this is the correct section to ask in, so here we go: Anyone else having issues with EmoTracker showing up in OBS after the new update? I tried selecting it by specific window, title bar, and executable, but it doesn't show up at all. Updated directly inside the app when prompted tonight.

No changes were made to the rendering side of things, so I expect that any issue you're having lies elsewhere on your system. (edited)

That said, I tend to recommend capturing EmoTracker using NDI and the associated OBS plugin.

It's strange for sure. Everything else is working in OBS, and my setup is only a few weeks old since I just started playing around with streaming in the last month. That being said, I just installed Twitch Studio for the heck of it, and EmoTracker is working there.

Is there an override I can use for Emo's package to use the old logic for bow when using Bonta's multiworld? TIA

also when i have non progressive bow turned on on the tracker it still thinks i have the bow if i have silvers but no bow

The tracker is currently built for v31 progressive bows. I’ll consider making an option for it, but I’m not sure what percentage of the player base actually plays with that or cares.

Bonta’s multiworld is the main use case, but the official multiworld will be out soon enough to make me not care much.

I am a casual player, trying to set up alttp auto tracking in emotracker. I'm fairly new to this, but not completely lost. I'm all set on the randomizer portion, but I still can't get that robot off of the color yellow. I have tried a bunch of options, including different emulators. I have checked announcements and made sure I was up to date. I'm stuck, please help if possible

EMO tracker isnt completeing updates for me, I am trying to update it with the recent changes, i click on the pacakge i want and it says its updating, the bar fills and then emo tracker stops working and i have to restart only to have it do the same thing

Dunno about other games, but I know OoTR has no plans to allow Autotracking in the community. Cross-platform parity is tops for that project, so unless it was made to support all OSs/all Emus/all Hardware, it wouldn't get approved by the Sages.

My old file used "bow" and "silvers", the new one make them the same. Is it possible to have 2 different for this bec you still can get silvers without bow.

The old items are still in there, but V31 uses progressive bows in almost all cases.

There isn't a way through the menus, you need to open the folder you installed to and find the pack you accidentally downloaded and delete that pack's folder manually. (edited)

Sorry if this question has been answered elsewhere, but which file should I mess around with for settings defaults, like fast tool tips and the like?

All I know is that every time I start up EmoTracker I have to turn "Fast Tool Tips" on and "Pin Locations on Item Capture" off.

I’ll check to see if those settings currently persist when I get back from GDQ.

I can confirm that on version 2.3.6.9 those settings are not persistent between sessions.

If they don’t persist, you can’t set defaults for them. I’ll add persistence after gdq.

hello. is it possible to make the tracker bigger and easier to see the icons?

EmoTracker obeys Windows DPI scaling, but this may not solve the problem you have. I want to say there are scaling properties you can add using tracker overrides, but I'm not familiar with the subject.

Assuming you mean to create your own tracker: Unzip the pack (into its own folder) you want to modify, rename the folder, then edit the info in manifest.json so it shows up as a different pack. I recommend using VSCode to do the editing and grabbing the schema from the pins in #customization-support. That's also the channel to ask any questions you have about the process in :D

The logic is all the same as the randomizer logic I used, and it's on a low difficulty, I didn't use any tricks as I'm pretty nooby.

I'll investigate once i can get to a computer. The most likely explanation is that my tracker is using outdated logic, as I've not had time to update it in a while. If I'm right on that, it'll be updated by tomorrow at the latest.

Apologies if this is in the FAQ or somewhere else and I missed it, but is there an option to show the contents of a location (number of chests/name of place) on mouseover rather than on mouse press? I am using the LTTP package.

I'm not sure about that specific pack, but in general if you Pin the grouped checks, you can see the individual ones labeled.

There is not, and likely never will be, an option to replace the click-and-hold to reveal location contents/double-click to pin the location.

i'm having an issue with the Hamsda OoT Tracker. I have absolutely everything possible that could be needed but the tracker still says I can't get the front of Water Temple or even enter the fire temple

Sounds like Hookshot isn't marked on the tracker? That is an item that can give access to both. Or if you went Adult/started as Adult and never marked the Master Sword, that will show quite a lot of things not in logic. Or if you're still on the Child tab. Lots of things, hard to troubleshoot without a screenshot, and either way the OoTR server's #gameplay-support channel is a better spot for this sort of thing.

Or you have your settings so that it expects Tunics to enter those locations.

If you have Fewer Tunic Requirements enabled when you made your seed, you want to toggle that setting in the tracker to Fewer.

Auto-tracking is supported only for projects whose communities allow it.

Operation of the tracker is fully manual without auto-tracking. If you're using a map-enabled tracker, telling it what items you have and whatever options you have selected when generating the seed will allow the tracker to tell you where you can go and what you can do.

You can mark off locations as you do them to remove them from the map. Locations on the map are typically collections of checks, which can be investigated by holding the mouse button on them or quickly pinned by double-clicking them.

OoTR only supports manual tracking. You don't connect it to anything, you mark your settings based on the seed you rolled when you started, and then you manually mark the items you collect and locations you've checked. (edited)

One probably could. You'd need to make each chest its own location and write all the requirements for each one. You'd also need to keep in mind this would no longer correspond to the number of items in the dungeon, but which chests you could access.

Emotracker, as I understand it, is not intended to be a teaching tool, but an assistant for keeping track of things. Knowing how many chests you can access with what you have is part of learning the game and, at least with Emo's pack, is something you're expected to have familiarity with.

It has variants without a map as well. I use the map because I have a terrible memory and forget stuff all the time, not because I couldn't play without it. It's basically preference to use it or not. That said, I'd say the tracker is for everyone, but the lack of these "finer details" is to encourage you to become more familiar with the game

Trackers are memory aids. They need to be fast to use. My LTTPR pack is designed to balance information and accuracy against tracking effort such that it’s usable by anybody in most all situations.

Not entirely sure where to ask this, but I'm jury-rigging together a simple tracker, but I can't test to see if it works. I have the whole thing zipped up and in the packs folder, but it's not in my installed list. What step am I missing?

#customization-support is the place for stuff like this. But I'm guessing you have an issue with the manifest.json file. Did you change the information in there? Since you mentioned zipping the pack, you want to make sure everything is at the root of the zipped folder. Also, you don't need to zip the pack to use it.

I see what I did wrong. I was being silly and put "proof of concept" as the version number.

If the location only has a single chest or you want to mark all chests as cleared you can also just right click the square itself. That will mark all chests as cleared

Does EmoTracker allow you to record where an item was obtained? I'm able to record places I've checked and items I've received, but not which check got me which item.

You can add a note to a location, which can include text and items, just press the pen and notepad icon on the location popup

It does not, but as Regg said, notes can be used for this purpose. As a general statement though, that level of tracking is IMO not worth the time it takes.

yeah, notes have what I've been using so far; the only problem with that is that the rest of the tool is soooo shiny and nice to use that notes feel super clunky in comparison

Correct, they don't. I assume you're losing things due to the 3-day cycle in MM - other games don't have that.

@Snowbear A local pack will not show up in the package manager. If it has been setup properly, it should show up in the installed packs submenu in the gear menu. Pack creation is best discussed in #customization-support, however.

Problem was solved earlier with help from ReggX. Much appreciated. It was just not placed in the packs folder properly with the correct format. (edited)

Hey this is probably a really stupid question, but playing mystery seed now and got Retro which is fine, but also keysanity (As far as I know) so I loaded up the keysanity tracker. But it mentions AT at the top. Like key wise it's HC (Hyrule castle I assume) and max of 1 key, but I have no idea what AT stands for

@~~That Which Lurks Below~~ You may have conflicting overrides since a recent update. Best thing to do is backup your current overrides folder for that tracker pack, load it naturally, then figure out which overrides you need to reimplement.

It's mostly because of how tall the item grid is. I think a narrower window works a bit better but the pack is so outdated there are probably logic changes and it's better to be using an up to date one instead

This might not be the place to post this, so please direct me to the proper channel if I'm in the wrong place. I found a minor logic glitch with the EmoTracker Official Support Inverted Standard tracker. Tracker currently shows TT as fully accessible with hammer and sword without the power gloves that you need to access the TT basement. The glitch does not reproduce in the Keysanity version of the inverted tracker.

I have an issue with my Emo-tracker. It won't connect to the internet servers for pack downloads for some reason to update any packs I currently have installed. Also I have this installed on two of my machines and they are both behaving the same way. Any help is appreciated.

You could try reinstalling Emotracker by uninstalling it then manually deleting its installation folder before reinstalling.

You have to specify it. I have no intention to change it, so unless something changes about the implementation of the randomizer rom itself, then no - as far as I'm concerned, there will not.

The ALttPR Auto Tracker is designed for ROM's generated by the ALttPR website, if you're using a downloadable program like Bonta or Berserker's Multiworld than there may be some things that don't work 100% with the Auto Tracker. The Auto Tracker also (if I remember correctly) doesn't work well at determining dungeon access when playing Entrance Randomizer modes since it isn't aware of where entrances can lead to. For dungeons make sure you meet the access requirements. (edited)

@DaFees right click on the medalion to indicate what medalion are required to enter them (it will cycle between MM/TR/Both) that way the tracker will know if you have medallion required to enter it

I'm not sure if this is the correct place for this, or if I'm also doing something wrong. I just started actually playing ALTTPR and emotracker is very helpful for me not forgetting locations (I also haven't played the base game in around 15 years, so memory is fuzzy). In the seed I had, mirror was in hookshot cave, but the location wouldn't appear on the map without mirror. I can confirm I was able to reach it (hookshot to east death mountain, warp tile near the bottom to dark world, enter caves)

The most likely explanation is that you did not track an item you had.

I tried refreshing tracker and clicking things. It showed up this time. I'll try to figure out what I did and if I can reproduce. Thanks!

Hello, I am trying to run two instances of multiworld on once pc, using Aster software to have two terminals, everything is working and have two machines with two keyboards two mouse two controllers etc, but when I try to connect Emotracker to the emulator on both machines, any ideas on how to get this to work? there are some settings to give different ips to each software but Im not sure if thatr should work

Whatever Aster is needs to give two different IP addresses.

I would like to use the ALTTP tracker with items and maps and would like to display them in OBS for a video recording. Is there a way to move the layout of the components of the tracker? Right now I am duplicating the window capture 3 times and transforming to only see item window, map1 and map2.

The broadcast view seems to only display the item tracker in a new window not the maps. It looks like narrowing the window to stack the maps vertically will do the trick though, thanks!

@Annorax10 You could set up Twitch in your EmoTracker settings, make sure it's connected to Twitch, make sure it can edit stuff by submitting !hud commands from your own user account to your Twitch chat. Once that's all set up, try making a StreamDeck button that sends a Twitch Chat Message using the appropriate !hud commands. You'll need to make one for each item you want to control. Since you can't easily dynamically change the commands as you press them, it'll only really be useful for Toggles.

For the Progressives, you could probably get away with !hud item up but then they'd need to be configured to roll back over to the bottom. I forget what that key/value pair is.

If you have a modern Nvidia graphics card you can use DSR to set your desktop to a higher resolution than your monitor supports and have it downscaled to what your monitor supports, this will let you see more (at the cost of everything being smaller)

No, I have a laptop which I use for just about everything, and the main screen is about 17" (huge for a laptop). However, due to my current setup, which is how it is because of extended periods of time being at home (and I left my other monitor at college which I cannot yet retrieve), I have connected my laptop to what is probably somewhere between a 40-50 inch 4k screen. I use both of them simultaneously for different tasks, and in this case I have OoT on my larger screen and the tracker on the smaller

As I understand it, the issue is not necessarily the size or resolution of your monitor, potential pack-specific layout issues aside. It's the distance you are from it,

..I swear this exact problem with this exact package has been brought up on multiple occasions.

I feel your pain. I don't have a traditional computer on desk setup and use a TV as my monitor as well. Works well in most aspects, but you can't really sit close to it without some health concerns, at least with eye strain. So when you go to higher resolutions, it becomes difficult to read anything. All I can really suggest as a temporary measure (assuming the pin advice given before didn't help, ignore me if it did) is increase your resolution to access the chests that get cut off, then return it to your preferred resolution. Not a fun way of going about it but hopefully not every dungeon has a list that long. (edited)

There is no universal "go mode" condition in LttPR. It's seed dependent. The icon is purely there for you to indicate to your stream whether you are in go mode or not. It is up to you to know whether you are in go mode or not (as it should be). The tracker isn't meant to do the thinking for you.

So my tracker, from boot with no emulator running, started freezing into a not-responding state, unfreezing for a split second and then freezing again. I rebooted my computer, still doing it. i found what look like the correct lines by enabling those options, and making a save, as the save lists "display_all_locations" and "always_allow_chest_manipulation" set to true, so I tried putting those in the application_settings.json (didnt work) and also in the settings.json in the tracker's zip file (also didnt work)

Well as you said yourself, simply press F11 to show all locations. As for allowing chest manipulation, click the gear icon on the top for Settings > Tracking > always allow chest manipulation It takes about five seconds to enable both of those options when you open the tracker :)

All of this is more appropriately discussed in #customization-support, but EmoTracker does not crop images, and you can just use a fully transparent image for a given stage. That will make it hard to manually track though, which I don’t recommend.

sssssoooo i appear to be a stupid idiot and can't install the tracker, embarrassing as all hell for me. when launching the setup, it does nothing. no process appears in the list of processes. just nothing. tried running as admin too, still nothing. tried downloading the installer twice. win10 home x64, avast antivirus. windows defender doesn't appear to be the issue. avast isn't whining about possible malware. no alert of any kind. list of blocked apps is empty i attempted the control access file suggestion but apparently that setting is not available to me. aaaany suggestions for this shameful failure of mine? If you haven't updated emotracker in a long time, you might have to re-download and do a fresh install. There was an issue with the certificates approximately 9 months ago which means that versions older than that don't auto-update and can't access the package listing.

If you are still freezing after removing your Documents/EmoTracker directory, then you have an issue with something on your system. Check whether you’ve recently enabled any new antivirus or security restrictions on your documents folder that you’d need to add EmoTracker as an exception to.

I'm not trying to be unhelpful, there are just limits to what I can diagnose remotely with minimal information. If you've deleted your Documents/EmoTracker folder and it's still occurring, then the issue is likely caused by something else on your system having changed.

I am so sorry if this is a dumb question, but is there anyway to expand the size of the tracker so it is bigger and can be seen easier from afar? Most people play reasonably close to the PC so it's not an issue. I ask because I use autotracker with my SNES Classic. But to do that, the SNES Classic must be plugged into my laptop via USB. So to avoid having wires across the floor, I'd rather just keep everything under the TV in my game room, so being able to expand the size and blow it up, or full screen it, would be great.

When you save, it also saves the window size. It's also pretty handy when there are different settings, so that you don't have to reselect them every time.

So, stupid question: are there any plans for a Linux version of EmoTracker? If not, does anybody know how the native Linux version of BizHawk's lua console would behave if EmoTracker was ran through the WINE compatibility layer? Would autotracking be impossible? Is there a minor fix capable of being done to get EmoTracker to connect to the lua console of Linux BizHawk?

I think Wine is the only option for Linux, and as for native ports of the program see the relevant answer near the top of #faq (edited)

Autotracker communication with emulators happens over a network socket. With proper configuration, you could potentially run EmoTracker in a real Windows VM with a native Linux emulator, but I do not provide support for this. I do not provide support for Wine, and as stated in #faq, a Linux port is not in the cards for a variety of reasons. (edited)

It is irrelevant to most users, outside of saying that autotracking requires an internet connection. It is a system designed to allow game communities to restrict the areas of memory that the tracker can scan in their game to prevent autotracker from being used to cheat. (edited)

Generally this means that either a) there is a package with bad version info (ping the pack owner) b) you did something silly like unzipping the package previously or exporting an override for manifest.json

I downloaded Streamlabs OBS just for this, a lot easier than Twitch Studios

Streamlabs OBS supports NDI, IIRC, though you may have to google directions for it.

Had a few questions about the ALTTPR tracker. The shovel icon sometimes gets a big red X on it (via the autotracker), what is that supposed to signify? I notice the X is something I can just attach via right clicking the shovel icon so I assume this kind of question is for here instead of it being something specific to the autotracker functionality. Also, for the blue icons (listed in the FAQ as "see but not get") might there be a planned update to be able to add icons for heartpieces/containers/money/ammo? As in instead of having to attach a text note. Alternatively an option for the blue icons to treat attached text notes the same as if you added an icon (making the icon go away until gettable). Or a way to pin the text note or something? (edited)

Does the tracker only support progressive items? I got the silver arrows (I don't have bow) and the bow icon doesn't have a thing for silvers without bow. This also causes the autotracker to keep changing it so I have the Bow when I don't, but I assume that's a result of this.

My pack currently only supports progressive bows, as that is what 99% of people use in the current version of the randomizer. I'm not doing any work specifically to support that until something other than a wonky branch of the unofficial multiworld puts it in more common use. (edited)

Each pack is maintained by one of more people and not everyone has their pack up on a Github or similar. You can always open up your local copy of the pack and see/edit those files and report you findings to the creator of said pack. It is definitely possible to have more packs for the same game. Awesome, thank you! I might (if one doesn't exist) make a pack for ALttP that does roughly the same sort of thing, but tracks more things, even if they don't specifically pertain to logical routing. I enjoy ALttPr, but don't currently wish to compete, it's just something I do for fun with my friends sometimes.

The ALttP Randomizer devs won't like it if it ends up being publicly shared. The reason the current pack doesn't track dungeons is a compromise with the ALttPR devs. I think the Super Metroid x A Link to the Past Crossover tracker kinda side steps the issue by not directly tracking save data for the dungeons but rather inferring info from other stuff and Emosaru is a little iffy on the way it does it? Uh, that's certainly weird.

@Mopsy The "official" multiworld will be official insofar as it is produced, maintained, and hosted by the ALTTPR dev team, has direct integration with the randomizer ROM itself, etc. I'm not going to get much deeper into why I said what I said about that particular version of the unofficial multiworld being "unfortunate", but sufficed to say I have issues with a number of aspects of the thing.

Ah, I didn't know that that team would be doing that. For what it's worth, I do really like skipping progressive items myself.

As far as distributing more LTTPR packs goes, anybody is welcome to build one for their personal use, but my bar for adding another one to the package manager would require it to be a) substantially different from existing packs and b) conformant to the racing rules for the game for autotracker features. I'm not personally interested in distributing packs that run afoul of those guidelines, for a variety of reasons, not least of which is the culture in significant parts of that community with respect to trackers in general and especially autotracking.

Yeah, judging from the drama mentioned above, I can understand that would be a headache. That all said, I'm perfectly fine distributing it myself. The point of this for me is to be fun.

If you set up NDI then the background for the broadcast view becomes transparent so it can fit with pretty much anything

Opened up my first randomizer seed in... months, haha. And EmoTracker has had a few facelifts since then! Of chief importance, though, is that it seems like Hamsda's OoTR tracker has a new tab for randomizer settings (including such things as scrubs and locked temple). I ask in general since this would be an issue of Emotracker, rather than the pack itself - I can't open the additional settings tab! I see a gear icon up next to "Items" but clicking it does nothing except give it a grey dot.

There is not, but yellow and blue (at least in my LTTP pack) do not exclusively correlate with things that would not fit in a glitchless run.

Blue boxes aren't necessarily for glitches though, alemon They just mean you can "observe" that check, like the Lumberjack ledge or the Library item That way you can mark them off if they're useless or come back and grab them if they're needed, it's for mental routing

Quick easy question... It's my first time using EmoTracker for keysanity in lttpr.. Obviously I'll click the small keys when I get them... do I right click as I use them? Or leave them clicked?

Most runs I've watched, they track which keys they've acquired, and let the game worry about how many keys they have left.

OK. Only asking because I'm running on an emu and therefore not autotracking.

You have to manually track small keys anyway, I've been told.

You leave them clicked, in addition the keys counted there for keysanity are explicitly the keys you find in chests, you shouldn't include the ones you get from enemies or find under pots. (edited)

Should I count chests containing keys/big keys when I'm marking off which chests I've opened now? Under normal mode that was a no.

I thought the idea was to track every chest within a dungeon? Was I doing that wrong?

Under normal, I found that to get the correct counts I didn't count any chests that had dungeon-specific items (Maps, compasses, keys, big keys)

Huh. I'll have to keep that in mind.

Unlike the normal mode tracker, the keysanity tracker has the actual number of chests in a dungeon, so you mark one off each time you open a chest.

If you plan on typing anything while playing, it's best to go through the hotkeys/shortcuts and remove the ones you don't need.

Quick question, new to randomisers and thus emotracker, what do the coloured squares mean?

iirc green means you have full access to all the items in that location, yellow means you have full access with legal sequence breaks/glitches, orange means you have access to some but not all items in that location, red means you have no access to items in that location

And blue means you can't access the item, but can see what it is.

Please read through #faq. It has the answers to this and many other questions.

Is there a list of why areas are yellow? ie Hyrule Castle & Sanctuary is yellow unless you select having both lantern and gauntlet, but I am unsure what chest that is.

Because you may or may not be able to get all the items depending on their layout. This type of question is better asked in the LTTPR discord, however.

is there a way to get emotracker to save its size/location on screen so that it launches in a given screen spot? I'm guessing somewhere in overrides, but i'm at a loss as to where to look.

No, and it’s not something I plan to change in the near future. Saving your progress will save the window size iirc, but not the location.

I know this is not what you want to hear, but your solution is to upgrade to Windows 10. Windows 8 is effectively unsupported by Microsoft at this point.

That is unfortunate, but I also don’t provide support for Windows 8 as a result. Windows 8 has been unsupported in EmoTracker for a long time.

At the very least upgrade your O/S to Windows 8.1 Update 1 and then install the latest updates. (edited)

hi, posted in autotracker as well because i'm not sure exactly where the issue lies. updated emotracker this morning after being on an older version for a little while (not sure exactly how long, maybe a few months). now autotracking (Retroarch and QUSB) no longer functions. Upon loading the rom file, the autotracker icon turns from green to red, and when i try to view "devices" in the QUSB menu, the QUSB menu pauses briefly and then shuts down. Ignore all that, EmoSaru fixed it already because emosaru said backwards sounds a bit like u r awesome (edited)

Hi, trying to run it using Crossover on a Mac, has anyone got it to run successfully? Tried using Windows 7 and Windows 10 bottles, get an error '255' EDIT: Ok, just read some comments that it requires dotnet 4, so it's installing a lot of them: * dotnet 2.0 * dotnet 4.0 * dotnet 4.7.2 looks like it needs to download 2-3 GB of stuff (edited)

Quick question: my EmoTracker always loads really big and doesnt fit on my screen (I assume because I use Windows scaling). I've tried disabling the scaling for EmoTracker but it keeps opening too large. I noticed there is a setting to reset the UI to 100% size, but how do I change that to be smaller?

I don't know if anyone can help me, I was able to use emotracker maybe 2 or 3 weeks ago, but when I try to now, it refuses to open. I have gone through the regular troubleshooting steps including updating windows and reinstalling but nothing opens. I don't know if I'm missing a dependency or maybe it got deleted somehow or what but it just refuses to open. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Do you get an error when you try to open it?

No, it just doesnt open. It isn't being block by Avast or Windows defender as far as I can tell and it has been like this for at least 2 days

Yes, I have tried running as administrator and it still does the same thing. It loads as if its going to open, but then stays closed. It doesn't come up in task manager either

Hold on, I just tried renaming the application to "EmoTrackerX.exe" and it opens. I just don't have access to the community package service nor do I understand why it opened now

I do not see an numbers in the title bar. I downloaded it directly from the download link if that helps. Here is what I see when I open it. Also, would you have any suggestions on fixing the antivirus part?

The version number will also be displayed in the Add/Remove Programs list in Windows when clicking on the app.

My suggestion is to check your antivirus and firewall settings to make sure that EmoTracker is allowed/not blocked. What you'd have to do depends on what system you use, so that's on you to figure out.

There is a post in #faq about some built in windows settings you could check re: folder protections, but those don't usually prevent the app from starting or render the package manager inaccessible, so you'll need to check the other stuff.

not sure if this belongs in general-support or pack-support, but the application is silently failing to update PugHUD. it shows the update available, and clicking the "Update" button produces a progress bar for a split second before changing back to the "Update" button. since there's an update available, the "Uninstall" button is missing. what's the best way to proceed?

there were other packs that had updates, and those installed fine, can't remember what they were though - i didn't take note because they worked.

did you unzip that pack, or perhaps inadvertently export an override for manifest.json?

I do not see any issue with pughud on my end, so I recommend checking your overrides for that pack

that was it - i had exported the entire pack to poke in the guts. deleting the export folder and restarting the app showed everything green.

As I understand it, once you unzip the pack, the program assumes you are a developer and marks it as a Dev version. That messes with the update process, since it doesn't want to overwrite your dev version.

More broadly, unzipped packs take priority over zipped releases

And overrides take priority over unzipped packs I believe. Always worth double checking both if an update appears to break or not work with a pack.

That’s not true. The current version works with bizhawk, so long as you are using a supported version of bizhawk. The Lua connector script prints output in bizhawk telling you if your version is supported or not.

Just wanted to update everyone who helped me out the other day that the tracker works now. Windows released a .net framework update which I guess restored any corrupted files. So thanks again!

so in the settings menu, when I try to move my mouse from installed packages to a game, the list of games disappears, so I can't actually change my tracker. Has this happened to anyone else?

...you have to move it straight over. If you go off course the game list disappears

So am I the only one that gets some emulator lag from ALTTPR using Snes9x 1.60 whenever click about darn near anything in EmoTracker as of late? Watch performance and no where near maxing out CPU nor even getting a CPU spike of any kind. Same for RAM.

Is your snes9x configured to pause emulation when it loses focus? Because that would do it.

no like I do move it straight over, but it still disappears, that's the problem lol

Y'kno... that got me thinking.. Looks like having VSync checked under display settings seemed to be causing the issue (which actually makes sense w/what you said). Unchecked that and the issue seems to be gone. Wonder if that started since I decided to change the Output Image Processing too.. barbThink

i've always had that issue (snes9x 1.60 very briefly lagging whenever I click something in emotracker) even without vsync checked, and obviously without pause emulation on loss of focus, but i figured it was a CPU issue (my CPU's pretty weak to handle streaming, discord, snes9x, emotracker, browsers, etc. all at once)

i'm playing a windwaker randomizer and there's one check i have no clue how to get

Hi, can anyone please help me, since moving to a new laptop I've been having some really weird issues with the tracker, every time i open the application it stays loading for 5 minutes, task manager indicates its not responding. I've tried uninstalling and installing again but no difference :(. Also after finally loading up it will freeze from time to time and stays frozen for a couple of minutes again.

What emulator do I need for Zelda II to work with EmoTracker?

Z2R doesn't have a pack supportting autotracking, so you can use whatever emulator you like; none of them interface with EmoTracker for that game.

Due to the way the game is laid out you always have a bit of time after picking up an item where you're just holding a direction anyway, perfect time to update the tracker.

Is there autotracking for NES at all? I thought it was just SNES and GBA at this point.

Autotracking for nes could theoretically be doable at this point, but would be bizhawk exclusive, and hasn’t been tested. (edited)

Does the green download progress bar move when you click them, but the install doesn't actually happen? Check the post in #faq and make sure you've dealt with protected folder issues and antivirus.

This appeared after trying to install something from an unrelated exe and it has happened with different exes but not all

Hellow. So, I'm wondering if it's a bug or if I'm missing something. I haven't been able to rando for quite some time, and when I finfally laucnhed the tracker for the first time in months today, of course, I was notified there was an update available for a package (the EmoTracker official ALTTP support one) But when I click on update, the progress bar fill up, everything seems to work fine, and when it reach the end, it just reset, and I still have the mention "update available". I've tried it a few time, and it doesn't always take the same time to update. Do I need to download one by one the many updates I've missed during this time? Or did I broke something?

Well, I tried deleting and reinstalling the package, and it's working. Still have no idea why it wasn't updating, but it's fixed

That typically happens if you unzipped the package in the installation's directory, as an unzipped version takes precedence (but still has a smaller version number, so it'll still call for an update)
